How does SEO Work?
First of all I need to state which sites I am able to work with....
SEO works best when done on a website where you have complete control – This is where you own the domain name, you pay for hosting and you edit you pages in something like FrontPage or Dreamweaver and then upload them.
A certain amount of SEO can also be worked on website builders such as Yahoo Stores and Go Daddy as well as individual Etsy listings. However I only work with these on a case by case basis so please fill in the form with which site builder you are using and any other info so I can take a look and see how much can be done to help you.
Unfortunately I cannot work with free sites such as tripod or any place where you have free hosting / free website.
If you have spent any time browsing through sites offering SEO services you will find that many will guarantee you a ranking in the top 10.
In my honest opinion it is not possible for companies to guarantee this. If they do, they may be using bad SEO tactics (otherwise known as black hat) that can get you banned from the search engines.
SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.
This is done by optimizing both on-page and off-page items.
On-page optimization means the code and text that appear on the webpage and covers the webpage URL, title tag, heading tags, keyword density and content, text links, navigation structure and more.
You have to be careful to get the right balance – Too high and the page comes across as “spammy”, too low and your page is never found.
Off-Page optimization covers inbound and outbound linking techniques known as link popularity, this is one of the major parts of SEO and your site getting found and should be an on going process.
