Casestudy - Template Design for Lasso'd Moon Designs.
I came across Carey in a forum looking for website design / template quotes. She knew it was time to give her website, Lasso'd Moon Designs a new look with a different color scheme and a fresher look and also wanted to start using Dreamweaver, having her site made with an editable regions template. Since I had just finished all of this with my own website I contacted Carey and we took it from there...
I did a website analysis for Lasso'd Moon so that I could see where the site stood at the time with the search engines, if there were any problem areas with the setup of the site, what to focus on with the redesign and so on.
Carey had a mock layout of how she wanted the new design to look, she knew she wanted the brown and blue color scheme, she was having a new logo designed, and she wanted a fancy script / graphics to show the different categories / sectors of the site. So... I took all of that; put it together making it into a template with editable regions and external CSS. I then tweaked it a little adding in some of my own ideas which Carey liked.
At every point along the way I would show Carey what I was doing, getting her to tell me what she liked, what she didn't like, what to keep, what to change. This way I could make sure I was on the right track and we could brainstorm together hashing out other ideas!
Carey then choose some pages for me to make for her, taking the content from the old pages and moving to the new pages, with a bit of a new layout. I also optimized the invitation and favor images, as the old images were saved as huge files which were slowing the site down drastically.
Towards the end of the website redesign Carey asked me if I could also redesign her blog, The Inkspot, so of course I said yes! That's when the "do you like this, and what about this" type emails started all over again! But you know what they say, two heads are better than one! We are both very happy with how everything came together, Carey loves the new look (what more could a designer hope for!) and I hope it will carry Lasso'd Moon Designs well into the future....
