"We had the good fortune to see a post by Emily Goodwin in a public forum about Search Engine Optimization for websites in August of 2006.
She was describing the importance of making a website easy for internet robots and spiders to index and applying key wording and other SEO techniques to help drive traffic to websites from search engines.
Traffic was something that Sugar & Spice Glass Co's website needed, badly.
We were only drawing about 50 unique visitors a day and very few of these were from search engines. We wanted to implement SEO techniques and Emily was our woman.
Sugar & Spice Glass's website had some problems which are not unique to DIY small businesses. We built the website ourselves using a proprietary application called WebSite Tonight (an easy built-it-yourself application from GoDaddy). By using a DIY website builder we had access to very little code content (html). In addition to that hurdle, there was problem number two; Sugar & Spice Glass products are very unique, but very common on another level.
To solve problem number one, code access, Emily went through every nook and cranny of exposed html in the web builder application, looking for where she could implement SEO strategies within the confines of the graphical user interface. She found several key places to add the major components of the SEO techniques. Some solutions were very creative.
To solve problem two, "uniquely common", Emily really got to know our products very well. What keywords and phrases can be used to describe a "glass donut brooch" when no one ever searches for a "glass donut brooch", but on the other hand how does Sugar & Spice Glass stand apart from the competition of keyword phrases like "glass jewelry".
After many days of tireless research she came upon a "recipe" she was happy with. Not too specific that no one ever searches for it, but not to broad to avoid being buried back on page 15 in a Google search.
I cannot say enough good things about Emily's dedication to a project and her creativity in solving complex problems. I found her explanations knowledgeable and clear. She was available to answer all of our questions (and boy did we have a lot). Emily possesses a wealth of knowledge that has been both educational for us and a giant leg up for our business.
We are really looking forward to our new and improved optimized site going live.
Hey googlebot - Check us out!"

"Thanks you so much for you clear and concise blog help.
I know absolutely nothing about setting up a web site or a blog... It's amazing I can send email!... So the thought of learning to do any of this made me want to cry.
Emily researched herself to find the look I wanted on my blog and how to implement it.. Her instructions did not make me want to cry. I set up the site myself with her guidance and it took less than an hour. Now I can make changes I need to make myself, with no hassle or horrific mistakes."

"Thanks to Emily, I have been able to make my website visible in the virtual world. I built my original website about 7 years ago using FrontPage 2000 (I know, I know). I worked for weeks and months through tantrums and tears building my first website, and in the end, I thought I’d done a pretty good job for a do-it-yourselfer, since I had no resources but myself to learn the program.
So, after all this work, rebuilding it twice, it just sat there online. No traffic, no sales. Maybe 10 hits a day? Are you kidding me? I started hearing about a term called SEO, so I started looking online to educate myself. Unfortunately I became more and more confused because I didn’t even know the terminology. I knew it was important, but how do I DO it?
Working with Emily has made me realize that just because a website is out there doesn’t mean people will come. There is so much more to building a website than making it look nice. Most of the work we completed is completely behind the scenes.
Emily was incredibly patient and answered all my questions in terms I could understand.
If you have a website, you absolutely need to optimize your site, and Emily has the knowledge to make it happen."

"My website was doing pretty well on Yahoo for my top search terms, but for
some reason I couldn't figure out, my site wasn't even on Google at all.
Emily to the rescue! Emily quickly figured out what the largest
problem was. She gave me a long report showing possible and definite
problems on my site and how to correct them. She gave wonderful, workable
recommendations.
Some things I did myself, and some things Emily did for me.
It's your choice whether you would like Emily to do some of the changes or if you
would like to fix them yourself. Emily emailed me almost daily during the
process, guiding, advising, and doing a lot of changes for me.
Very quickly,
my site is now on the first page of Google for most of my search terms, and
for some of them, my site is in the number one position! Of course,
everyone's results may vary, but I am extremely happy with the results of
Emily's hard work.
My website traffic has doubled within a couple of months, I was getting 40-45 hits per day, now I am getting 80-90 hits per day.
So if your website needs a little kick, do your business
a favor and hire Emily!"
